{Ten Day Sherlock Challenge} ~ Day 1: favourite male character
Sherlock Holmes, how do I begin to describe Sherlock Holmes?
There’s a theory of social interaction I read about once, long ago, called “refridgerator rights.” In other words, those you feel most comfortable with, have the closest relationship to, can walk into your house, open the fridge and get something withou asking, as you can do with them.
Early in the episode, you see Mrs. Hudson rummaging around in the boys’ fridge (with appropriate cringe face), cleaning things out and tutting over the thumbs. And later, even more telling, Sherlock walks into her tiny kitchen, immediately opens the fridge, and filches a pastry. The utter normalcy of that action speaks such volumes to me, even moreso than his anger and fear that she was hurt.
John’s face when he realizes how much she means to Sherlock though. I think this was what Mofftisson meant when they said it wasn’t a story about Sherlock in love, but a story about Sherlock and love. You see so many kinds of love discussed, even the messed up brotherly bond between Sherlock and Mycroft. This episode was much more emotionally taxing for me than Reichenbach, to be honest.
